About 20 km out of town a car pulled up in front of me and the driver jumped out for a chat. Dom saw me yesterday as I was was arriving in Coonamble. He was working on the roof of a large shed and had yelled encouragement to me. He is a keen cyclist and wants to tour with his wife in the future.

It didn't take long to get to Gulargambone 45 km down the road. It is lovely little town, the locals are working hard to keep morale up in the drought. The local community hall has been turned into a cafe and I stopped there for tea and scone. I could just feel that there was some good spirit in this town.

I bought some sandwiches for lunch and then looked for a barbershop. I normally run the clippers over my head and beard weekly so 5 weeks growth has been annoying me. In the end I asked a local who directed me to a salon just off the Main Street. For $10 I had the grey removed and came out looking even greyer.
After that it was time for some bike maintenance at a shady spot in the park. I needed to replace the rear tube because I broke the head off the valve when I went to pump it up earlier in the week. Although the tyre stayed up I couldn't add more air. I took the opportunity to rotate the tyres as well. The rear tyre gets more wear from the combined weight of me and the rear rack.
I bypassed 2 caravan parks on the way through town and headed toward what I thought was a free camp only to discover it was RV only, no camping. I was forced to backtrack into the wind but then saw a sign for a $65 motel room - sold. I hate backtracking.
I have now done 2000 km and only have 800 more to get home.
